Television actor Ashish Kapoor has been taken into custody by Delhi Police after being accused of raping a woman during a house party in the city last month.
The arrest was confirmed on September 3.

Police said Kapoor was not in Delhi when the complaint was filed. He first travelled to Goa and later moved to Pune, where he was finally caught after a joint search by several teams.

The case started when a woman, who had met Kapoor on Instagram, lodged a complaint. She told the police that Kapoor had invited her to a house party in Delhi during the second week of August.
According to her statement, Kapoor forced himself on her inside a washroom during the gathering. Investigators said CCTV footage and people present at the party confirmed that Kapoor and the woman had gone inside the washroom and did not return for a long time.
Guests knocked on the door several times, leading to arguments once they came out.
The matter escalated outside the party venue. The woman also claimed that she was attacked by the wife of the host near the society gate. Eventually, it was the host’s wife who dialed the PCR number and called the police, officials said.
DCP North Raja Banthia confirmed to the media the arrest and added that the investigation is still in progress.
Ashish Kapoor is a well-known face on Indian television. He gained popularity with his role in the long-running show ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’.
Over the years, he has appeared in serials like ‘Ssshhh… Phir Koi Hai’, ‘Sasural Simar Ka 2’, ‘Saath Phere – Saloni Ka Safar’, ‘Saraswati Chandra’, and ‘Molkki Rishton Ki Agnipariksha’.
Born on October 17, 1984, Kapoor has been active in the entertainment industry for many years. In 2021, he got engaged to television producer Pearl Grey, but the relationship ended a year later.
